Hi Irene, Kids will also never have watermelon seed spitting contests, what a great excuse to spit as hard as you could ( out doors of course). I alos remember standing at summer came, each Saturday night they would cut open these enormous, long, long watermelons, quater them lengthwise, and the slice the pure center cut, down the length of the quater, without the seeds, out of the tip of each quarter. We so hoped we would get that piece. Now it is more or less all uniform. Sorta like all our fast foods.

I served at Pomegranite Granita ( with lime juice) for Succoth last year, it was a huge hit!

I am SO glad to hear it. I guess that here in Los Angeles, it is so available, people just don't wait for summer but you are right, it tastes so much better when it is local fruit.

Thanks Rivki!
